My Story

I’ve written a song!!! I wasn’t expecting or even attempting to write a song when this came out. I picked up my guitar to practice, but immediately went into the chords for this tune, and out it poured. Huh. It’s pretty fitting considering all that’s swimming in my head lately.

My Story

I’ve been a stranger in my own scene

Playing a part but barely ever being seen

I’ve been waiting, hiding, holding back

Afraid to step off this beaten, trodden, well-used, well-worn track

The voices echo, “stay in line”

They say it’s safe not to shine

But somewhere deep, I feel a flame

A quiet fire calling my name

I’m breaking free, I’m standing tall

This life’s too short to stay so small

No more sidelines, no more doubts

It's time to scream, it’s time to shout

I’m the lead, I am the voice

Time to step and rejoice

Cuz it’s my life, it’s my story, it’s my choice

Years of whispers, years of doubt

Of second guessing, of backing out

But I’m tired of playing another part

It’s time to rise, time to follow my own heart

The fear hangs on, the subtle fight

It’s time my heart steps into the light

No more shadows, no more fear

This is my story, I am here
