My name is something that happens everyday
My name is something that you don't ever want to say
You hide your eyes,
and pretend I don't exist
Put me in disguise
and add me to a list
of things you don't want to talk about
My name is reacted to like a dirty word
My name is where lines meet when they're blurred
You try to play on
like it's a game
you make shades of grey
always shifting blame
never really willing to talk about it
Because the reality is that I'm not okay
The reality if there are no shades of grey
When my name is used,
by the hurt and abused
but not by the accused
This is something we all need to talk about
My name can be laughed off like joke
My name can be the fire behind the smoke
Cover me with a mask
bury me in a flask
but I'm here to stay
until you're ready to talk about it
